Metalwork & locksmithing
Brandstätter MetalworkFlorian BrandstätterSteel that fits. Welded in Wels.
We design, weld and install stairs, railings, gates and canopies, each piece made to measure. I took over my father's workshop in 2019 and run it with seven people and a 3D drawing before every cut.

You touch a railing every day. It has to last 40 years and still look as if it was made for exactly that staircase. Which it was.
About us
Taken over from my father, carried on with my own ideas
My father Herbert founded the workshop in a rented hall in Wels in 1984. I grew up between the welding machine and the pillar drill, trained as a metalworker and passed the master craftsman exam in 2014.
I took over the business in 2019. Since then we draw every project in 3D before cutting any steel. You see your railing before it is built, and we know it will fit to the millimetre.
There are seven of us: three metalworkers, an apprentice, my wife Katharina in the office, my father, who still works in the shop twice a week, and me. The people who weld your piece are the same people who install it.

What customers say about our work
„Our old concrete steps into the garden were falling apart. Mr Brandstätter designed a steel staircase with grating treads, showed us the 3D drawing first and installed it all in two days. Suits the house perfectly.“
Wolfgang HuemerOutdoor staircase, 2025Review on Google „A new glass railing for our balcony. Date kept, clean welds, and the fitters even vacuumed up the drilling dust at the end.“
Birgit LeitgebBalcony railing, 2024Review on Google „A very sturdy sliding gate, nicely finished and quiet. The lead time of eight weeks was longer than I hoped, but they said so right in the quote.“
Emre KayaMotorised sliding gate, 2025Review on Google „My garden gate was hanging crooked with a hinge torn off. I called on Friday, and by Tuesday it was welded and readjusted. That is what I expect from a tradesman.“
Sandra PühringerGarden gate repair, 2025Review on Google „Stainless steel worktops and wall cladding for our inn's kitchen, made to the millimetre and installed on our closing day. We did not have to shut for a single day.“
Thomas EderStainless steel for a restaurant kitchen, 2023Review on Google „A canopy over the front door in steel and safety glass, simple and exactly as we wanted. At last we no longer stand in the rain while unlocking the door.“

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Question not answered here? Give us a call, we are happy to advise.
+43 7242 12 34 56- How much does a railing cost?
- A simple galvanised steel bar railing starts at about 280 euros per running metre, installed. Glass, stainless steel or curves cost more. After measuring you get a fixed price.
- Galvanised or powder-coated?
- For outdoors we recommend hot-dip galvanising, with a powder coat on top in your colour if you like. It lasts for decades without painting. Indoors a powder coat is usually enough.
- How long from measuring to installation?
- Usually six to eight weeks, because galvanising and coating are done externally. Repairs are often done within a week.
- Do I need a permit for a balcony or canopy?
- It depends on size, position and municipality. A small canopy is often straightforward, while free-standing balconies and carports usually need a building notification or permit. We clarify it with you and the building authority before we start fabrication.
- Do you do small repairs too?
- Yes, gladly. Torn-off hinges, loose handrails, cracked trailers or garden furniture: bring the part to the workshop, or we come to you.
- Do you work with my builder or architect?
- Yes. We receive the plans, draw the details for the metalwork and agree connections and dates directly with the site. You do not have to relay messages.
